Aklan hosts RCC Q1 meeting

Assistant Secretary for Competitiveness and Ease of Doing Business Group Mary Jean T. Pacheco presides over the Regional Competitiveness Committee (RCC) first quarter meeting held at the Hotel Metro in Kalibo, Aklan on February 27, 2018. Members of the of the Regional Competitiveness Committee (RCC) discussed the 2018 Local Data Captured Sheet, defined each cities and municipalities competitiveness index indicators, required unit measures, where to get the data, and the scoring methodology, among others during its first quarter meeting held at the Hotel Metro in Kalibo, Aklan on February 27, 2018.

The RCCs are the building blocks for national competitiveness tasked to regularly measure local competitiveness indicators, formulate programs to improve competitiveness, and engage in investment promotion activities to attract investors and create new jobs.

Each RCC is composed of members from the public sector, private sector and academe.

Presently, there are 16 RCC across the country with each committee working closely with the National Competitiveness Council to execute activities aimed to promote reforms and growth at the regional level. These activities contribute to the overall competitiveness of the regions, which in turn contribute to expansion of investments and job opportunities and to the overall attractiveness of the country as an investment site, among others.
