DTI VI opens dairy processing facility in CapSU - Pontevedra
It all started from a business plan where students envisioned of having a dairy processing project at the Capiz State University (CapSU) – Pontevedra Campus. Now that aspiration is becoming a reality with government’s shared service facility (SSF) project being facilitated by the DTI.
CapSU – Pontevedra Campus is a beneficiary of the SSF for Dairy Milk Processing.
“One of the projects that the students proposed was on the dairy processing project. We submitted the proposal to the DTI. The proposal was chosen, evaluated and was approved,” recalled CapSU – Pontevedra Campus Administrator Mae D. Dumapig
Dumapig said that they used to have a dairy processing before but the number of milk-producing cows has declined. Recently, however, the National Dairy Authority granted them a loan to enable them to acquire milk-producing cows and revive their dairy projects.
“This SSF Project is a big help to the community. We can help the farmers and the students as well,” she said. The school offers agriculture courses, and dairy processing is part of the curriculum.
The university received several equipment for the operation of the facility which include mobile milking machines, milk cans, milk pasteurizer, freezer, chiller, infrared tableware stabilizer, milk fat analyser, and manual sealing machine, among others.
The total project cost is P960,000.00.
