Aklan fire victims receive livelihood kits from DTI

The DTI Aklan Provincial Office distributed livelihood kits to registered stall owners affected by the conflagration that flattened the Kalibo Public Market Fire in Kalibo, Aklan last September 14, 2019.

The beneficiaries received livelihood assistance packages under the Pangkabuhayan sa pagBangon at Ginhawa (PBG) program worth P10,000 ranging from consumer goods, beauty salon equipment/supplies, cooking equipment for carinderia, used clothing for ukay-ukay store, among others.

The livelihood kits distributed were as follows:

a) Consumer goods retailing: 62 beneficiaries

b) Barbershop/beauty salon: 11 beneficiaries

c) Carinderia: 9 beneficiaries

d) Used clothing retailing: 8 beneficiaries

e) Jewelry making: 2 beneficiaries

f)  Sewing Machine for dressmaking: 2 beneficiaries

g) Dried fish retailing: 2 beneficiaries

h) Rice retailing: 2 beneficiaries

i)  Lumpia wrapper making: 1 beneficiary

j)  Slippers retailing: 1 beneficiary

The PBG is a livelihood seeding and entrepreneurship development program which aims to assist individuals and families that were affected by fire incidents and other calamities to recover and/or start their own business.

The activity was graced by 1st District Congressman Carlito S. Marquez) represented by Edilberto Macahilig, Kalibo Municipal Mayor Emerson S. Lachica, Kalibo Municipal Economic Enterprise Development Officer Jessie Fegarido, and DTI-Aklan OIC-Provincial Director Ma. Carmen I. Iturralde.

Together with several collaborating agencies, the DTI hopes to provide the needed push for the micro, small and medium enterprises to restart their businesses, thereby enabling them to contribute to the local economy.#
