DTI VI to confer Bagwis Seals to 66 establishments

The DTI VI Regional Bagwis Committee (RBC) has recommended the awarding of 43 business establishments with Bagwis Seals. Of the awardees, 38 are new applicants, 22 are for renewals and six (6) sought to upgrade their level.

The RBC, chaired by DTI VI Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon, assessed and scrutinized the applications of these establishments based on the five parameters of the program – compliance with consumer laws; customer relations and services; store management and operations; socially committed and responsible business sector; and, quality orientation management.

The Bagwis Seal has three levels of award, to wit: Bronze – compliance with trade fair laws + consumer welfare desk or recognized customer service counter; Silver – achievement of bronze requirements + social responsibility; and, Gold – achievement of silver requirements + some elements aligned to ISO 90001.

The business establishments qualified to apply for the Seal are supermarkets, department stores or specialty stores, hardware stores, appliance centers, and DTI-accredited service and repair shops.

In Capiz Province, establishment owners who applied for the seal were given the opportunity to present their compliance. They provided audio visual presentations which include employees and customers’ testimonies before the panel.

The presentation was an innovative way designed to raise the applicants’ appreciation of being awarded with the Bagwis Seal – a recognition to businesses who diligently adhere to existing fair trade laws and consistently strive for customer satisfaction at all times.
