Leganes Mayor Vicente Jaen II praised DTI for having an
efficient business registration processing, “I applaud DTI for having the
easiest registration process I have ever encountered.” This was part of the opening
message of Mayor Jaen during the Launching of Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay
(NSB) in Brgy. Cagamutan Sur, Leganes on Tuesday, 14 January.
The business name registration was part of
the caravan of services of DTI during the NSB along with business counselling
or coaching and consumer complaints handling. Service desk for the P3 Program
(Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso) was catered by the Small Business
Corporation, DTI’s financing arm.
Mayor Jaen relayed his experience in
business and the demands set by business registration. But he highlighted the
efficient process in getting a Business Name with DTI, which is very
encouraging for people who plan to start their businesses. According to him, meeting
the DTI team during the NSB was also an opportunity to collaborate with the
agency and seek its support to his development programs for Leganes.
DTI 6 Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon
pointed out that it will be a good opportunity for the townsfolk to look into
promising backyard businesses which would use local skills and raw materials. Hence, the NSBs conducted
in the different barangays is a venue to reach farmers, fisherfolks,
agripreneurs, indigenous people, persons with disability, and micro enterprises
in 4th to 5th class municipalities and promote
greater linkage and support entrepreneurs to scale up.
Punong Barangay of Cagamutan Sur Renato J.
Espinoza was proud enough to host the first NSB for this year along with
neighboring barangays of Cari Minor and San Vicente which pooled a total of 90
participants in that afternoon.
DTI Iloilo, led by DTI 6 Assistant
Regional Director Ermelinda P. Pollentes, is set for a bigger challenge this
year as NSB 2020 will cover 131 barangays of the 17 towns categorized as 4th or
5th class. The
NSB last year made a resounding feat of reaching 91 barangays out of its 87
target serving 1,362 MSMEs and 9,018 potential entrepreneurs.
By bringing business development
services closer to the public, the NSB is expected to increase awareness of the
DTI programs as well promote engagement of the local officials and enablers of
micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the countryside.
