Aklan school wins CWM reg’l quiz bee

The three-member team from the Regional
Science High School for Region VI from Kalibo, Aklan bested other schools from
the other five provinces in Western Visayas to emerge as champion of the
Consumer Welfare Month Regional Quiz Bee held at the SM City Iloilo on October 29.
The school was represented by Princess
Keith Malolos, Janna Paula Marie Libuna and Tsaress Leigh Garzon. The group
brought home the P10,000 cash prize, a trophy and medals to each team member,
including their coach, Josephine P. Vicente.

The Iloilo National High School representing
Iloilo Province was 1st runner up. The team of Yancy Aubrey Panugon,
Deryn Dominique Ventilacion and Marie Rheann Lasaga brought home the P8,000
cash and trophy with each receiving a medal including their coach, Mary
Colonia.

San Pedro National High School from
Antique Province was declared 2nd runner up, composed of Ivan
William Magbanua, Marjorie Altjos and Genevee Blancia with Loreto C. Saracanlao
as their coach. They received P6,000 cash, trophy and medals.

Non-winning schools also received a
consolation prize of P3,000 each. These are the teams from Capiz (represented
by Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion), Guimaras (represented by TVC Sta. Teresa
National High School) and Negros Occidental (represented by Negros Occidental
High School).
This year’s celebration anchored on
the theme, “Making Digital Marketplaces Fairer.”

Rascon said that the activity not only intends to establish teammanship, but
likewise aims to expand the knowledge and awareness of students on consumer
welfare and fair trade laws.
